The TEPAD scholarship program was initiated in year 2005 due a popular demand by members of Terik community to support further education of the community’s high achievers in academics and extracurricular activities. This was informed by the fact that majority of children who had scored high marks in national examinations were unable to proceed for higher education due to lack of school fees.
Similarly the inability of best performers to access high schools due to fees was becoming a demotivating factor for those wishing to continue in the school system. Though the local government had made bursary schemes were available , the amount was minimal and disbursement was based on need and less on academic performance.
TEPAD envisages that future community leaders and mentors will arise from those that are highly competitive academically or with demonstrated excellence in extracurricular activities.
